Ancilliary Operations

The University and VANOC opened the UBC Thunderbird Arena
Ancillary operations – enterprises owned and operated by the university – contribute to climate change through greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from their operations. Enterprises such as UBC Food Services, Housing and Conferences and Athletics and Recreation are self-funded businesses owned by UBC; as such, they are subject to standard business management practices which might not allow the flexibility associated with core academic operations (for instance, the acceptable timeline for financial payback on conservation savings).
